Ranch Tours in Maupin, Oregon
Imperial River Company takes its name from the historic Imperial Stock Ranch, located 20 miles east of Maupin, Oregon. Founded in 1871, Imperial Stock Ranch grew from a modest 160 acre homestead claim into an empire stretching over 100 miles. It's operations included grain, hay, cattle and tens of thousands of sheep. Much has changed over the last hundred years, yet today the ranch maintains productions in these original areas. It is a National Historic District, recognized and awarded for sustainable production practices. With the goals of preserving a quality, rural lifestyle, and sharing a bit of that experience with visitors, our family hopes you will enjoy your time with us.
You may choose to experience "life at the ranch" on a heritage tour. All Maupin tours are customized and may include historical buildings & facilities, cattle & sheep raising, wool production & marketing, large scale wheat production, homestead cabins, wildlife viewing, Native American archeological sites, and natural resource management practices.
Tours begin at $20 per person (2 person minimum) for a two hour walking tour, and $50 per person (4 person minimum) for a four hour tour. Tours are available every Saturday at 10 a.m.
The ranch is busy with activities year-round, which include: lambing in February, round-up of the spring calves for branding in April, sheep-shearing in May and grain harvest in August, just to name a few.
